About Leanna Scott
I’ve been a licensed real estate agent since 2002, but I’ve been interested in real estate for much longer than that.
My family arrived in the USA from Vietnam in 1979. My parents led us on an arduous ocean journey across the South China Sea that was full of danger, adventure, and a lot of luck. My uncle had come to the U.S. a few years earlier, and we followed him to Clovis, in the Central Valley of California near Fresno. My mom and dad embraced the American Dream, beginning with a farm that grew vegetables for asian stores and restaurants in the Bay Area, and later opening a produce distribution warehouse in San Jose that is still run by my older sister to this day. I’m the middle child of seven kids (four girls, three boys), and we each run our own businesses now. We truly are an American success story.
My interest in real estate began when my parents started looking for ways to invest their profits. It wasn’t a lot at first, but it introduced me to the real estate business, first as a buyer, and later as a seller. With my Economics degree from UC-Davis in hand, I dove in and learned everything I could about every aspect of the real estate business. My first non-family job was helping out at a mortgage broker’s office, where I learned the ins and outs of real estate financing. From there I transitioned to being a real estate agent, getting my license in 2002. Since then I’ve helped people buy and sell homes in almost every city in the San Francisco Bay Area, from Gilroy to San Francisco.
I’ve lived full-time in the Bay Area for nearly 30 years: most of the time in San Jose, but I’ve also lived in Fremont, Campbell, Mountain View, and San Mateo. My husband, Ken, is successful a Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur and well-known visual music artist, and we both love living here. His favorite “village” is Castro Street in Mountain View, while I’m partial to Sunnyvale’s Murphy Avenue, as well as San Jose’s “Little Saigon” area. Honestly, there are so many amazing neighborhoods in the area that it’s hard to choose a favorite. We’ve spent many happy hours exploring the beautiful neighborhoods and shops in Santa Clara, Cupertino, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Campbell, Los Gatos – just to name a few.
That highlights one of biggest the challenges of being a realtor in Silicon Valley: choosing an area to focus my energy on. I’ve chosen to focus on the heart of Silicon Valley – the stretch from Santa Clara, through Sunnyvale, to Mountain View – because, frankly, I just love it here. Santa Clara and Sunnyvale are home to some of the most successful, well-established high tech companies, and Mountain View is the breeding ground where many of them got their start. That means that I get to work with interesting, intelligent, and wonderful people and their families, helping them to find just the right home. Often I’m also asked to help them sell their homes when they decide it’s time to expand. I have the best job ever!
I hope that this helps you get a sense of who I am and why I love being a real estate agent. If there’s any way I can help you navigate the uncharted waters of the Bay Area’s real estate market, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
